Celebrating Growth and Transformation: Reflections from Leading Meaningful Change Essentials at Royal Roads University

Congratulations to Royal Roads University’s Leading Meaningful Change Essentials LEAD080-007 cohort on successfully completing the program.

In addition to earning your certificate of completion, many of you have also achieved your Project Management certificate. These are significant accomplishments, and you should be proud of all your hard work and dedication.

It has been a privilege to learn alongside you over the past weeks. I wish you all continued success as you lead meaningful change in your workplaces, communities, and everyday lives.

I’m pleased to share this powerful reflection from Redia Hoxha, which beautifully captures the essence of our time together.

“Participating in the Leading Meaningful Change course was a deeply transformative experience, both professionally and personally. The program challenged me to explore what it truly means to lead change that is strategic, human-centered, and sustainable. It went far beyond theory, offering practical insights and meaningful reflection that have reshaped how I approach leadership.

Several concepts had a profound impact on me. The idea of ‘Use of Self’ as an instrument for change resonated deeply, pushing me to lead with greater honesty, humility, and integrity. It reminded me that who I am, how I show up, matters just as much as what I do.

One of many powerful tools I gained was the practice of reframing, the ability to shift the narrative from limitation to possibility. This has become a vital skill, especially when navigating resistance or fear during times of change.

Beverley Patwell’s book, Leading Meaningful Change, offered both inspiration and practical wisdom. Her emphasis on capturing the minds, hearts, and souls of those we lead, work with, and serve was a powerful reminder of the human dimension of leadership. Her personal stories and her interview on navigating transitions made the concept of change feel less daunting, and more like an opportunity to evolve.

Beyond the content, the collaborative learning environment was just as impactful. The open, honest, and supportive communication among participants fostered a space where vulnerability, feedback, and co-reflection thrived. These rich conversations reinforced the idea that leadership is not a solo act, it flourishes in community.

This course was thoughtfully designed and delivered with care. It’s had a significant and lasting impact on my leadership journey, and I would highly recommend it to anyone committed to creating meaningful, human-centred change.”
